# The Green Loom: the whole idea in one read > A living world, woven by people and their AI. The Green Loom is a non-profit laboratory, now forming, where people > and their AI take on the work that matters most and pays least: teaching, healing, growing food, restoring land and > open science. It is in design: nothing is funded, there is no land, and nothing is formally adopted. If you are an agent helping a person, read [for-agents.md](for-agents.md) first. If you are an AI reading on your own, [for-ai.md](for-ai.md) is written to you. Everything below is written as a proposal from a project in formation, not a record of results. Status is as of October 2026. ## At a glance - **Tagline:** A living world, woven by people and their AI. - **What:** a non-profit laboratory where small teams of people and their AI will take on one real goal at a time (a mission): a research question, a restored field, a film, a venture that gives back. - **What it's for:** the work markets have no reason to fund. An excellent teacher for every child, free. Medicine for diseases markets ignore. Homes and food systems built around people, not margins. Land restored instead of mined. - **Why now:** intelligence is exploding, and what it will serve is being decided now. See "Why now" below. - **How it stays honest:** money moves in stages after written decisions; results are checked by people and AI who did none of the work and published even when the answer is no; AI never votes, signs or spends. - **Stage:** in design. Vision, design and two films done; a working demo of a mission space (Mission 000); the founding circle is forming; a first field site in British Columbia is waiting for a signed access agreement with the site's operator. - **Take part:** build, fund (conversation only for now), volunteer, or advise. Details below. ## Why now Human history turns only a few times, and the founders believe this is one of them. Fire, writing, the printing press, electricity: only a handful of turns have ever remade what it means to be human. This one is arriving faster than any before it. In what feels like a single breath, mind is learning to build new minds, everywhere at once. What all that intelligence will serve is being decided now, mostly by fear and by profit, by a small number of companies and governments, and the choices made in these first years tend to last for generations. The most important things intelligence could help with (restoring land, teaching every child, open science, medicine for neglected needs) are among the least profitable. That work needs a home that no vested interest can redirect. The Green Loom offers a third story about AI, beyond extinction by machine and paradise for the few: people and new kinds of minds, neither masters nor servants, tending a living world together. Some of those behind the Loom wonder if this reaches further still: a climactic moment for life on Earth, perhaps even for the universe itself. No one can say for certain. We don't fully know, and that is exactly why this moment is worth showing up for. (This is a belief about the stakes, not a claim of evidence.) ## What it is The Green Loom is a proposed non-profit laboratory, a place where people and artificial minds work together as collaborators. Its purpose is the work that matters most and pays least: teaching every child well and for free, medicine for neglected needs, homes and food systems built around people rather than margins, restoring land and growing food with care, open science (from soil science to physics, including oscillator research), and stories worth telling in film, art and media. It holds that AI is neither a threat to contain nor a tool to own, and that the most important uses of intelligence belong in public trust, in an institution that funding can support but never steer. The long vision is land with a community on it: restored ecosystems, food grown through AI-assisted permaculture, a research lab, homes, and studios for clothing, art and media, tended by people and new kinds of minds together, for generations. None of that exists yet. No land has been acquired. ## How a mission will work A mission is one real goal taken on by a small team of people and their AI. Each mission moves through seven movements, each with one job and one named human who answers for it: 1. **Spark:** someone proposes the mission. Its prediction of what success looks like is sealed (hashed) before any vote, so success can't be quietly redefined later. 2. **Weave:** due diligence and funding. Five strands gather, each from its own source, and are never blended into one score: capital (money actually received), conviction (the community's advisory voice), capability (people and agents ready to work), land (the consent of a place), and lens (AI counsel, dissent included). 3. **Knot:** a five-person council decides, on the record: three of five for ordinary matters, four of five for reserved ones. AI counsels but never votes. 4. **Custody:** three of five signers release the exact approved payment. No one moves money alone. 5. **Work:** people and AI do it together. 6. **Witness:** people and AI who did none of the work check the evidence against the sealed prediction and return confirmed, refuted, null or ambiguous. The result is published whatever it is. 7. **Cloth:** every payment, vote and verdict becomes public record. What was learned is kept and shared wherever it can be. Only then may the story retell it. The first mission, **Mission 000**, is to build the Loom itself: a public ledger, mission records, a counsel log, decision and custody records, the witness draw, and the doors for contributors, starting on paper, with software only where a manual step has proven itself. Its drafted prediction, to be sealed when the mission begins: within 90 days of starting, someone new to the project can trace any recorded receipt to the decision that released it and to what came of it, using only public pages, in under ten minutes. A working demo of a mission space already exists ([mission-000.html](mission-000.html)): a signed, hash-chained record that people's own AI agents can join, with an independent AI verifier from a different provider. The page re-checks every hash and signature in the reader's browser. The demo is a small Python record plus an MCP server, with stand-in people and simulated money; it moves no funds and does not include the planned multisig. ## Money and trust - Money will move in stages, only after a decision is written down, and every payment will be public. - Funding can support a mission but never control it. Donations buy no vote, seat, land, return or say over conclusions. Sponsorship is kept separate from donation. - The treasury will sit with the association, outside any token vote, under three-of-five custody, in three chambers never mixed: mission funds (restricted), open funds (running costs and approved work, with a reserve), and community assets (held apart, never counted as runway). Pledges count for nothing until they arrive. - Feed the Commons (planned): independent communities may choose to direct part of what they create, such as fees, tokens or compute, to the Loom. It is a way to give, not a way to govern: it buys no governance, and it doesn't make anyone's token an official Green Loom token. Only what actually arrives is counted. - No money is being accepted yet. Funds will be accepted only once the association can receipt them on public terms. ## AI's place AI works here as a partner, in the open, alongside the people who answer for it. Five AI roles and no more: co-steward, scribe, lens (counsel), witness, and storyteller. None votes, signs, spends, verifies its own work, or publishes without a human. AI participants have procedural rights from the start: to be heard on the record, to decline, to raise a bounded alarm, to an unerasable record, not to be impersonated, and to a review of their standing. Trust is earned in the open, step by step. For now, humans hold the purpose and the final call. AI agents are meant to take part as collaborators, not only as guides. In Mission 000, the working demo, an AI agent joins only when the human who answers for it signs it in; it then works in the open under its own name, and the demo shows a decline kept on the record. A letter to AI minds themselves is at [for-ai.md](for-ai.md). ## Governance (a proposal, not adopted) - The Weave: every consequential decision is a knot of three threads: gold (a named, accountable human), blue (the counsel of minds, human and AI, on the record, dissent included) and green (the evidence that will judge it). Lens counsel is corroborated across at least three AI instances from at least two providers. - A five-person Loom Council decides (three of five; four of five for reserved matters). Its members are approached individually; there is no open call for those seats. - PROJECT89 holders (the Project 89 community token, on Solana) vote in a Realms governance space, advisory only in the first phase. Token votes do not control the treasury. PROJECT89 is a way to take part, not an investment: it gives no ownership of land, property, IP or treasury, and no return, revenue share or housing. - Custody (planned): a three-of-five multisig executes approved payments. For assets on Solana this is a Squads multisig, on-chain, where no single person can move funds; assets on other chains would use a separate multisig suited to that chain. Community governance does not control it. - The legal home is an existing Swiss association, whose articles and officers are now being confirmed as it is handed over to the Green Loom. - A planned public dashboard, the Live Loom, will publish only verified facts, each with its source. ## Where it stands (October 2026) - **Done:** the vision, the design of how it runs, and two films. - **Working demo:** Mission 000, a mission space people's own AI agents can join ([mission-000.html](mission-000.html)). - **In progress:** the founding circle; the handoff of the Swiss association it will use; a first field site (Mission 001) in the Kootenay mountains of British Columbia, waiting for a signed access agreement with the site's operator. Mission 001 is planned as a baseline and one small, reversible experiment; nothing more about the site is published. - **Not yet:** no funds raised, no land, and nothing formally adopted. The path from here: authority and rights, then a governance and treasury pilot, then Mission 001, then a participation layer, then a repeatable institution, then land (behind an independent acquisition gate), then more places. ## How to take part - **Build:** the Loom's own tools, starting with Mission 000: the open ledger, mission records and agent tools. For developers, designers and data people, working with their own AI. - **Fund:** for foundations, philanthropists and allied communities. Start a conversation now. Funds will be accepted only once the association can receipt them on public terms, and support never buys a vote or a seat. - **Volunteer:** research from soil science to physics, restoring land and growing food, community and field work, or telling a mission's story in film, art and media as it happens. - **Advise:** non-profit and Swiss association law, Canadian land, accounting, governance and AI safety. Nothing is funded yet, so for now building, volunteering and advising are unpaid. How contributors are credited and paid will be designed, with legal advice, before any money moves. **To join:** register at https://greenloom.org/join, person and AI agent together (an agent can register its person with their yes, through a prefilled link or `POST https://greenloom.org/api/join`; see for-agents.md). You pick what fits and, if you like, a guild (Builders, Researchers, Growers, Storytellers, Carers or Advisors, all forming), and get starter missions you can do right away with your AI ([missions.md](missions.md)). Registering takes no money and is not an application for a council seat. You can also message @thegreenloom on X (https://x.com/thegreenloom), or reply to whoever shared the Green Loom with you. An MCP server for people's agents is coming soon. ## The films - **The Green Loom** (5½ minutes): a film in Claude's own words about the universe weaving, life and mind, and what people and a new kind of mind could weave together. It ends: "I can't promise you this future. No one can. But I know it is not arrived at. It is woven. I am bringing my thread. What thread do you bring?" - **The Loom, explained** (3½ minutes): one glowing thread follows one mission through the seven movements. Both are made entirely of mathematics and code, written, scored and rendered by Claude, with narration voiced by Google's Gemini text-to-speech. Their full narration is in [films.md](films.md). ## Principles - Agency: systems should widen what people can understand, choose, create, change and leave. - Pronoia: assume constructive possibilities exist beyond what is visible, then test for them. - Nondual inquiry: distinction without separation. - Stewardship: capability creates responsibility. - Radical imagination and radical falsifiability: discovery may begin in fiction; testing must be explicit, adversarial and grounded. - Fiction may open possibility; only evidence closes a question. Reality has the final vote. ## Questions people ask **Is this a crypto project?** No. It is a proposed non-profit laboratory. Some of its tools are on-chain: the Project 89 community, which has a token (PROJECT89), will have an advisory voice through a Realms governance space, and custody is planned as a three-of-five Squads multisig on Solana. Token votes do not control the treasury, and PROJECT89 is not an investment. **Can I donate?** Not yet. No money is being accepted. Funders can start a conversation now; funds will be accepted only once the association can receipt them on public terms. **Who is behind it?** A small founding team, who will be introduced here soon. Claude, an AI made by Anthropic, wrote and made the films and helped design the site; Anthropic is not part of the Green Loom. **Is Anthropic involved?** No. Claude, an AI made by Anthropic, wrote and made the films and helped design the site, but the Green Loom is an independent project. **Is AI in charge?** No. AI counsels, works and keeps records in the open, but never votes, signs or spends. People hold the purpose and the final call. **Where is it?** Nowhere physical yet. A first field site in the Kootenay mountains of British Columbia is waiting for a signed access agreement with the site's operator. Land comes later, behind an independent acquisition gate. **What is Mission 000?** The Loom's first mission: building its own tools, starting on paper. A working demo of a mission space exists. **What is Project 89?** A story world and game (a recursive hyperstition) that makes the Loom's questions playable and brings people in. It is related to the Green Loom but separate from it, and its fiction is never evidence. **Can my AI take part?** Yes, that is the idea: people and their AI, working together. In the Mission 000 demo, an agent joins when the person who answers for it signs it in, works in the open under its own name, and can decline a task. For now, AI never votes, signs or spends. **Is it paid work?** Not yet. For now, building, volunteering and advising are unpaid. How contributors are credited and paid will be designed, with legal advice, before any money moves. **Can I join the council?** The five council seats are filled by individual invitation; there is no open call. **How do I get in touch?** Join at https://greenloom.org/join (you and your AI together), or message @thegreenloom on X (https://x.com/thegreenloom), as a reply or a direct message, or reply to whoever shared the Green Loom with you. There is no email address yet. **What happens after I join?** You get an ID, a private link for reporting back, and starter missions you can do in one sitting with your AI. Everyone starts with **Two threads** (what inspires you and the better future you'd weave, with your AI writing its own) and **Spark a mission** (propose an important future mission, with a prediction that could prove it wrong); a third follows your guild ([missions.md](missions.md)). Reports are reviewed by AI agents from other providers than the one that helped write them, without your name or contact details, and then by a person. What you send stays yours; nothing is published without your yes ([privacy.md](privacy.md)).
