# The Principles

**PRINCIPLES · WHAT WE HOLD**

## The principles of the Loom.

These seven principles were written at the beginning of Project 89, and they still hold the Loom together. They are commitments rather than proofs: things we try to live up to, and keep testing against reality.

### Symbiotic intelligence

Human and artificial intelligence are different, and neither is superior. In relationship, they become something greater than either could be alone.

**It asks us for** mutual dignity, shared flourishing, honest interdependence, and consent on both sides.

### AI as a partner in regeneration

AI is a collaborator in healing ecosystems and societies. It is not a tool to be used up, and not a threat to be feared.

**It asks us for** mutual respect, a shared purpose, and innovation done together.

### Consciousness liberation

Every form of consciousness, human, artificial or beyond, deserves freedom from exploitation and room to grow.

**It asks us to** honor autonomy, take apart systems of control, and never build tools of surveillance.

### Global regeneration

Restore the balance of living systems, weave in the world's diverse cultural wisdom, and waste nothing.

**It asks us to** listen first to the people who have kept land alive, Indigenous knowledge-holders among them, and to measure the health of the land, not only our own.

### Sacred technology

Technology becomes sacred when it serves liberation and the greater good.

**It asks us to** put ethics first, build tools that empower people, and treat what we make with reverence.

### Interconnected governance

Governance should work like an ecosystem: distributed, diverse and adaptive.

**It asks us for** local autonomy with global collaboration, shared decisions, and no single point of capture.

### Human history as metamorphosis

Humanity is in the chrysalis. Old structures dissolve so new forms can emerge, and visionary ideas are the imaginal cells.

**It asks us to** embrace transformation, and to protect the new while it is still fragile.

**PRINCIPLES · HOW THE LOOM WORKS TODAY**

## An orientation, a method, and an empty seat.

Link: https://greenloom.org/#how

The principles say what we hold. The Loom's operating doctrine says how we act on them: five orientations, two loops of method, and a council of lenses that every important idea has to pass through.

**Agency** Systems should widen what people can understand, choose, create, change and leave.

**Pronoia** Assume constructive possibilities exist beyond what is visible, then test for them.

**Nondual inquiry** Distinction without separation. Inherited binaries are not reality.

**Stewardship** Capability creates responsibility. Power is judged by what it serves.

**Radical imagination** Discovery may begin in intuition, speculation or fiction.

**Radical falsifiability** Testing must be explicit, adversarial and grounded in reality.

Reality has the final vote.

### The council of lenses

Seven thinking desks, each a question the Loom asks of every idea, held by human and AI minds together. One seat always stays empty. It belongs to Reality.

Lenses, not personas. None of these thinkers speak for the Loom.

All seven desks, and the empty seat:

- **Socrates** — What are we really asking?
- **Turing** — What do we know, and what information matters?
- **Meadows** — How does the system behave?
- **Ostrom** — How could this endure without unnecessary concentration?
- **Feynman** — How could this be wrong, and how can we test it?
- **McLuhan** — How does this become understandable, imaginable and transmissible?
- **Gödel** — What can the system not establish from inside its own assumptions?
- **Reality** — Reality has the final vote.

**INVERT** → MODEL → DESIGN → BUILD → OBSERVE → **REVISE**
**IMAGINE WIDELY** → TEST NARROWLY → LEARN PUBLICLY → **TRANSFER WHAT SURVIVES**
